Burnban Buddy ("we", "us", "our") provides a subscription SMS service that sends daily Nova Scotia burn restriction updates. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Contact information: your email address and mobile phone number, provided when you sign up.
• County selection: the Nova Scotia county you choose for your daily updates.
• Payment information: subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles all payment data directly.

How we use your information

• To send you a daily SMS with the burn restriction level for your selected county during burn season (March 15 – October 15).
• To verify your phone number at signup using a one-time SMS code (via Twilio).
• To manage your subscription status (e.g. activating or cancelling access) via Stripe webhooks.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Burnban Buddy:

• Twilio — to send SMS messages and verification codes.
• Stripe — to process subscription payments.
• Google Cloud / Firebase — to securely store subscriber information.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping purposes. You can request deletion of your data at any time (see Contact below).

Your choices

• You can cancel your subscription at any time by emailing us — no long-term commitment is required.
• You can request a copy of, or the deletion of, your personal information by contacting us.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including restricting access to subscriber data to authorized personnel only.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
